About DRT Coaching

Who is DRT Coaching for?

First and foremost- anyone! I've been unfortunate enough to know some coaches throughout my time who will only take on the ‘best’ athletes, or who will veto new athletes by their current PB's to see whether they're 'worthy' or their coaching or not. I'm not like this.

That being said, I believe my running background (see ‘about me’) and coaching philosophy lends itself best to working with athletes motivated by looking to either begin racing, improve their Personal Best’s, or who want to be competitive at a high level in their chosen distance.

I specialise in coaching athletes in the road running discipline, at distances between 5km to the Marathon, focussing on these distances as I personally run and enjoy them, meaning I can provide a better service for my athletes.

What makes DRT Coaching unique?
First and foremost, I believe that all runners should utilise athlete-specific Strength and Conditioning as part of their training. Therefore, as well as being a UKA qualified running coach, I am also a Level 4 qualified Strength and Conditioning coach. Most coaches will say ‘do some S&C work’, but with DRT Coaching you’ll receive a bespoke S&C plan that compliments your running.

Secondly, I work only with a small number of clients, meaning I’m able to provide a more personalised service than most coaches. There are no ‘one-size fits all’ or ‘off-the-shelf’ plans - only individualised programmes that are designed around each athletes ability, goals, and capacity.

Thirdly, I’ve trained and competed at a high level, and know what it takes to achieve goals that once seemed impossible. Through using my own racing experience, I’ll help you plan and execute racing strategies when the time comes for you to put your training into action.

Finally, I understand the challenges of trying to fit training into ones busy schedule. This is something I’ve adapted to myself through working 6 days a week in a busy environment. Therefore, when designing plans I take an athletes habits, commitments, and routines into consideration to ensure it’s challenging but achievable.

DRT Coaching philosophy

For me, coaching is about helping athletes get fitter, stronger, and faster. I want my athletes to be driven by the desire to improve their running, and be prepared to work hard to achieve it. I am here to support athletes in this journey, write bespoke training plans tailored to their experience, needs and goals, analyse their form and performance in the DRT Performance Lab, and provide tailored Strength and Conditioning plans to compliment their running.

Ultimately, it is for individual athletes to drive their own success. However, I aim to be a partner on their journey, guiding them and providing a comprehensive coaching package that considers the athlete as a whole, and puts their needs and goals at the center of the plan. By utilising data gathered in the monthly / bi-monthly assessments, I’ll create bespoke plans that enable the athlete to achieve their goals, and become fitter, stronger, and faster.

Doesn’t sound quite what you’re looking for? No worries! I work with some amazing coaches and am happy to provide recommendations best suited to you.
